Barrins & Associates is very pleased to welcome Dr. Kevin Huckshorn as a new member of our consulting team!  Dr. Huckshorn’s experience includes her six-year tenure as Director of the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health for the state of Delaware. She also served as CEO, Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Clinical Services at Delaware Psychiatric Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Huckshorn was Director of the Office of Technical Assistance for the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors and Director of the National Coordinating Center for Reduction of Seclusion/Restraint, providing clinically based training nationwide on evidence-based practices. She is recognized as an international expert on restraint/seclusion reduction and trauma informed care.

Dr. Huckshorn’s clinical leadership experience includes Clinical Director and Chief Nursing Officer for Atlantic Shores Healthcare in Florida plus another twenty years prior experience in private mental health and substance abuse agencies. She is a licensed mental health nurse and internationally certified substance abuse clinician with 35 years’ clinical experience as well as extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient program development.
