Susan A. Sullivan, MBA, MLS(ASCP)SBB, CQA(ASQ) brings 25+ years’ experience as an industry laboratory leader. From her role as a multi-facility administrative Director of Laboratory Operations, Ms. Sullivan has been successful in assisting institutions navigate the regulatory requirements of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).

She is actively involved in laboratory inspection and assessment activities and has been an AABB Assessor and CAP Inspector for more than 20 years. She was on the AABB Standards Development Committee for the 31st & 32nd edition of Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services and is a contributor to the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Checklist Review Work Group. Her go-getter, never-give-up mentality has led to industry changing and non-conventional inventory additions to the blood bank, including an inventory management system for implanted human tissue and fecal microbia transplant protocol.

Ms. Sullivan provides guidance in a number of key areas such as, laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, resource management, and strategic planning. In her most recent position as the Director of Laboratory Services, she facilitated the standardization of policies across regional markets and provided oversight of response to laboratory accreditation inspection events.

The majority of Ms. Sullivan’s career was spent in the community hospital setting and her expertise and strength lies in her exceptional auditing and assessing skills. She has the ability to quickly assess compliance with regulatory requirements through tracer methods, staff interactions, and document reviews. Ms. Sullivan brings an unmatched passion and commitment for mentoring, providing education, and leadership development, while helping your organization successfully navigate the accreditation process.
