Jacqueline Gacek Smith, RN, MS, CPHQ

Senior Associate

Jacqueline Gacek Smith, RN, MS, CPHQ is a senior associate with Barrins & Associates Consulting. In that role, she works with psychiatric hospitals and behavioral health programs nationwide to support them in achieving and maintaining Joint Commission accreditation and CMS compliance. As a consultant, she conducts training, gap analysis, and mocks surveys and provides technical assistance on Joint Commission and CMS standards and survey process. She is experienced in developing and monitoring corrective action plans to remedy regulatory and accreditation non-compliance. She also provides interim senior leadership support.

Ms. Gacek has more than 30 years of healthcare management experience. She most recently served as Chief Operations Officer for two psychiatric hospitals providing inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization services. Her prior Behavioral Health experience includes Director of Quality & Risk Management with responsibility for regulatory compliance, health information management, utilization management, risk management, outcomes measurement, and performance improvement.

Ms. Gacek has also held a variety of leadership positions in managed care delivery settings including Operations Administrator, Director of Government Programs, and Director of Resource Management. Her experience also includes technology implementation assistance in the healthcare setting.

Ms. Gacek received her master’s degree in health systems administration from Rochester Institute of Technology, her bachelor’s degree in health system administration from St. Joseph’s College, and her registered professional nursing degree from Sage College, all in New York State.
