Associate

Jay Colamaria, RN, MS is an associate with Barrins & Associates Consulting. He consults with psychiatric hospitals nationwide to support them in achieving and maintaining Joint Commission accreditation and CMS compliance. As a consultant, he conducts training, technical assistance, and mock surveys on Joint Commission and CMS standards. He also provides consultation on best practices for psychiatric nursing.

In addition to his role with Barrins & Associates, Mr. Colamaria currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York. He oversees the delivery of nursing services for the inpatient, PHP/IOP, and outpatient programs and is a member of the Senior Management team. He is also responsible for maintaining standards compliance and survey readiness for Joint Commission and CMS surveys as well as New York State Office of Mental Health licensing surveys.

In addition to his administrative role, Mr. Colamaria is a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and carries a clinical caseload.

Mr. Colamaria received a Master of Science degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Sage College in Troy New York. In 2017, he was awarded the Times Union Nurse of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions to the nursing profession.
