Marianne Birmingham, MS, CHC, CTP

Associate

Marianne Birmingham, MS, CHC, CTP is an associate with Barrins & Associates Consulting. She consults with a wide variety of behavioral health organizations across the country to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance. In that capacity, she provides training, organizational assessment, gap analysis and mock surveys. Marianne provides hands-on support and technical assistance regarding Joint Commission accreditation, licensing requirements, and continuous compliance management and survey readiness.

Ms. Birmingham has extensive experience in the fields of quality, compliance, and risk management. She currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Compliance and Quality for a multi- state behavioral healthcare organization serving children, adults, and families. She has overseen Joint Commission readiness in a variety of settings including residential, community based, and outpatient services for forensic, adolescent, adult, and autism spectrum disorder populations. She also serves on the National Association of Behavioral Health Quality Committee.

With the experience of over 100 surveys, her extensive involvement with The Joint Commission includes overseeing the attainment of the first ever Behavioral Health System Accreditation. She also recently led a team to obtain initial accreditation for 49 sites. Ms. Birmingham additionally has expertise in the meaningful use of electronic health records.

Ms. Birmingham earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Science in psychology from Capella University. She is also a Certified Trauma Professional, Certified in Healthcare Compliance, and has completed TJC’s Patient Safety Training curriculum.
