Senior Associate

Laura Sellers, RHIA is a senior associate with Barrins & Associates Consulting. For the past ten years, she has assisted behavioral health organizations nationwide in achieving and maintaining Joint Commission accreditation. Her clients have included mental health programs, substance abuse programs, children’s services and eating disorder programs.

In addition to her background in Joint Commission consulting, Ms. Sellers has extensive operational leadership experience in Joint Commission accredited behavioral health organizations. This includes responsibility for Joint Commission compliance and survey preparation for large community based residential behavioral health organizations over a period of 29 years including Skyland Trail and Hillside – both located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Along with her expertise in Joint Commission accreditation, Ms. Sellers specializes in health information technology and electronic health records in the behavioral healthcare setting. She led the implementation of an electronic health record in the two behavioral health organizations where she served as Director of Operations and Vice President for Information Management & Performance Improvement.

Ms. Sellers received her bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She holds certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator from the American Health Information Management Association.
